Year of the Goat
February 19th 2015 marks the start of a New Lunar Year referencing Chinese traditional astrology as, The Year of the Goat. A symbol of peace and harmonious co-existing and tranquility is the primary forecast for this year ahead.
A few words from our co-founders J and Dana: We are excited to share some Slow Coast news with everyone. We’ll be hitching the 1954 Airstream to J Nichols’ bicycle, attaching the boards to the roof and pulling it short way down CA Highway 1 from the Swanton Berry Farm to the meadow between the Davenport Roadhouse and the Bonny Doon Vineyards tasting room for the spring and summer seasons beginning March 1st.
Slow Coast portraits by Poppy de Garmo
Poppy de Garmo is a Portrait Photographer, Chef and lover of open space who lives in Santa Cruz, CA. She is combining her talents and interests and is collaborating with Slow Coast to bring awareness to the farmers, environmentalists, land advocates and more who live on the Slow Coast through a series of photographic portraits. These portraits will be shot in Davenport in the Old Odwalla Building throughout the next six months and will feature visionaries like Jim West, Wallace J. Nichols, Robert Stephens and Dee Harley. The Slow Coast is special place in our state and this collaboration will help to show the people who make it so unique.
The new theme of the Year of the GOAT will be all about joining forces for creative and peaceful solutions in our world. Slow Coast is certainly looking forward to our new chapters ahead, as we begin our spring summer season, at our new location in the meadow in downtown Davenport, between the Roadhouse, and The Bonny Doon Tasting Room as the month of March kicks off. Spring Break here we come! IN SLOW WE TRUST.
